English Translation
Ishaq ibn Isa told us, Hammad - i.e. Ibn Zayd - told us, from Ishaq ibn Suwayd, from Abu Qatadah al-Adawi, who said: We entered upon Imran ibn Husayn among a group of Banu Adi, among us Bushayr ibn Ka'b, and Imran ibn Husayn related to us, saying: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Modesty is entirely good," or "Indeed modesty is entirely good." Bushayr ibn Ka'b said: "We indeed find in some of the books" - or he said "wisdom" - "that some of it is tranquility and dignity for Allah's sake, Mighty and Sublime, and some of it is weakness." Imran repeated the report, and Bushayr repeated his statement, until he mentioned that twice or three times, and Imran became angry until his eyes reddened, and he said: "I tell you something from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and you bring up in it talk from books?" We said: "O Abu Nujayd, there is no harm in it, and he means well," and we kept on until he calmed down.
