حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ أَخْبَرَنَا يُونُسُ قَالَ نُبِّئْتُ أَنَّ الْمِسْوَرَ بْنَ مَخْرَمَةَ جَاءَ إِلَى الْحَسَنِ فَقَالَ إِنَّ غُلَامًا لِي أَبَقَ فَنَذَرْتُ إِنْ أَنَا عَايَنْتُهُ أَنْ أَقْطَعَ يَدَهُ فَقَدْ جَاءَ فَهُوَ الْآنَ بِالْجِسْرِ قَالَ فَقَالَ الْحَسَنُ لَا تَقْطَعْ يَدَهُ وَحَدَّثَهُ أَنَّ رَجُلًا قَالَ لِعِمْرَانَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ إِنَّ عَبْدًا لِي أَبَقَ وَإِنِّي نَذَرْتُ إِنْ أَنَا عَايَنْتُهُ أَنْ أَقْطَعَ يَدَهُ قَالَ فَلَا تَقْطَعْ يَدَهُ فَإِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَؤُمُّ فِينَا أَوْ قَالَ يَقُومُ فِينَا فَيَأْمُرُنَا بِالصَّدَقَةِ وَيَنْهَانَا عَنْ الْمُثْلَةِ.
English Translation
Ismail narrated to us, Yunus informed us, saying: I was told that al-Miswar ibn Makhramah came to al-Hasan and said: 'A slave of mine ran away and I vowed that if I saw him, I would cut off his hand. He has now come and is at the bridge.' Al-Hasan said: 'Do not cut off his hand.' He then narrated to him that a man said to Imran ibn Husayn: 'A slave of mine ran away and I vowed that if I saw him, I would cut off his hand.' Imran said: 'Do not cut off his hand, for the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) used to lead us — or he said stand among us — commanding us to give charity and forbidding us from mutilation.'
