English Translation
Hushaym narrated to us: Mujalid informed us, from al-Sha’bi, from Adi ibn Hatim, who said: I asked the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, about hunting with a dog. He said, "If you release your trained dog, having mentioned the name of Allah over it, and it catches game, and you reach it in time to slaughter it, then slaughter it; and if it kills it, then eat; but if it eats from it, do not eat."
