English Translation
Yahya ibn Adam told us: Abu al-Ahwas told us, from al-A'mash, from Abu Wa'il, from Abu Nukhayla, from Jarir ibn Abdullah, who said: I came to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, to pledge allegiance to him, and I said, "Give me your hand and stipulate conditions upon me, for you know best the conditions." He said, "I pledge you allegiance upon that you not associate anything with Allah, that you establish the prayer, give the zakat, give sincere counsel to the Muslim, and separate from the polytheist."
