English Translation
Abd al-Razzaq told us: Ma'mar informed us, from Qatada, from Humayd ibn Hilal, from Jarir ibn Abdullah al-Bajali: that a man from the Ansar came to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, with a purse of gold filling the space between his fingers, and said, "This is in the way of Allah, Mighty and Majestic." Then Abu Bakr, may Allah be pleased with him, stood up, so they gave and he gave. Then Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, stood up, so they gave and he gave. Then the Emigrants stood up and gave. He said: The face of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, shone until I saw the radiance on his cheeks. Then he said, "Whoever introduces a righteous practice in Islam that is acted upon after him will have the like of their rewards, without anything being diminished from their rewards; and whoever introduces an evil practice in Islam that is acted upon after him will bear the like of their burdens, without anything being diminished from their burdens."
