English Translation
Waki' told us, from his father and Ali ibn Salih, from Ash'ath ibn Sulaym, from Mu'awiyah ibn Suwayd ibn Muqarrin - my father and Abd al-Rahman said: Shu'bah told us, from Ash'ath ibn Sulaym, who said: I heard Mu'awiyah ibn Suwayd, from al-Bara', who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, commanded us to do seven things and forbade us from seven things. He commanded us to visit the sick, follow funeral processions, say a blessing to one who sneezes, return greetings, accept the invitation of one who invites, help the one who is wronged, and fulfill the oath of one who swears an oath. And he forbade us from vessels of gold and silver, wearing gold rings, wearing silk, brocade, silk mixed with another fiber, red saddle-cloths, and thick silk brocade. Abd al-Rahman did not mention vessels of gold and silver.
