حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ وَعَفَّانُ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنِ الْأَشْعَثِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْجَرْمِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ عَنْ أَبِي الْأَشْعَثِ الصَّنْعَانِيِّ عَنِ النُّعْمَانِ بْنِ بَشِيرٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ كَتَبَ كِتَابًا قَبْلَ أَنْ يَخْلُقَ السَّمَوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ بِأَلْفَيْ عَامٍ فَأَنْزَلَ مِنْهُ آيَتَيْنِ فَخَتَمَ بِهِمَا سُورَةَ الْبَقَرَةِ وَلَا يُقْرَأَانِ فِي دَارٍ ثَلَاثَ لَيَالٍ فَيَقْرَبَهَا الشَّيْطَانُ قَالَ عَفَّانُ فَلَا تُقْرَبَنَّ.
English Translation
Rawh and Affan told us, they said: Hammad b. Salama told us, from al-Ash'ath b. Abd al-Rahman al-Jarmi, from Abu Qilaba, from Abu al-Ash'ath al-Sana'ani, from al-Nu'man b. Bashir, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Allah wrote a decree two thousand years before He created the heavens and the earth, and He sent down from it two verses with which He concluded Surat al-Baqara. They will not be recited in a house for three nights without the devil coming near it" - Affan said: "...without the devil coming near it at all."
