حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ أَخْبَرَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ خُثَيْمٍ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ الْأَسْوَدِ بْنِ خَلَفٍ أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ أَبَاهُ الْأَسْوَدَ أَتَى النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُبَايِعُ النَّاسَ يَوْمَ الْفَتْحِ قَالَ جَلَسَ عِنْدَ قَرْنِ مَصْقَلَةَ فَبَايَعَ النَّاسَ عَلَى الْإِسْلَامِ وَالشَّهَادَةِ قُلْتُ وَمَا الشَّهَادَةُ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْأَسْوَدِ يَعْنِي ابْنَ خَلَفٍ أَنَّهُ بَايَعَهُمْ عَلَى الْإِيمَانِ بِاللَّهِ وَشَهَادَةِ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَأَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُولُهُ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ.
English Translation
Abd al-Razzaq narrated to us, Ibn Jurayj informed us, Abdullah ibn Uthman ibn Khuthaym informed me, that Muhammad ibn al-Aswad ibn Khalaf informed him, that his father al-Aswad came to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, to give allegiance along with the people on the day of the Conquest. He said: He sat at Qarn Masqalah and took the people's pledge of allegiance upon Islam and the testimony. I said: What is the testimony? He said: Muhammad ibn al-Aswad, meaning Ibn Khalaf, informed me that he took their pledge of allegiance upon faith in Allah and the testimony that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, is His servant and Messenger.
