حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ آدَمَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ مُبَارَكٍ عَنْ حَيْوَةَ بْنِ شُرَيْحٍ عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ عَنْ أَبِي الْخَيْرِ عَنْ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ عَامِرٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ صَلَّى عَلَى قَتْلَى أُحُدٍ بَعْدَ ثَمَانِ سِنِينَ كَالْمُوَدِّعِ لِلْأَحْيَاءِ وَالْأَمْوَاتِ ثُمَّ طَلَعَ الْمِنْبَرَ فَقَالَ إِنِّي فَرَطُكُمْ وَأَنَا عَلَيْكُمْ شَهِيدٌ وَإِنَّ مَوْعِدَكُمْ الْحَوْضُ وَإِنِّي لَأَنْظُرُ إِلَيْهِ وَلَسْتُ أَخْشَى عَلَيْكُمْ أَنْ تُشْرِكُوا أَوْ قَالَ تَكْفُرُوا وَلَكِنْ الدُّنْيَا أَنْ تَنَافَسُوا فِيهَا.
English Translation
Yahya ibn Adam told us, Ibn al-Mubarak told us, from Haywah ibn Shurayh, from Yazid ibn Abi Habib, from Abu al-Khayr, from Uqbah ibn Amir, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, prayed over those slain at Uhud after eight years, as one bidding farewell to the living and the dead. Then he ascended the pulpit and said: I am a forerunner for you, and I am a witness over you, and your appointed meeting place is the Basin, and indeed I am looking at it now, and I do not fear that you will associate partners with Allah — or he said: that you will disbelieve — but I fear that you will compete for this world.
