English Translation
Qutaybah ibn Sa'id told us, saying: Ibn Lahi'ah told us, from Yazid ibn Abi Habib, from Abu al-Khayr, who said: Maslamah ibn Mukhallad — who was governor of Egypt — offered Ruwayfi' ibn Thabit to place him in charge of the tolls (taxes), and he said: "I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say: 'The tax-collector is in the Fire.'"
