قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ وحُجَيْنٌ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ عَنِ الْبَرَاءِ عَنْ خَالِهِ أَبِي بُرْدَةَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّا عَجَّلْنَا شَاةَ لَحْمٍ لَنَا قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَقَبْلَ الصَّلَاةِ قُلْتُ نَعَمْ قَالَ تِلْكَ شَاةُ لَحْمٍ قَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ عِنْدَنَا عَنَاقًا جَذَعَةً هِيَ أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ مِنْ مُسِنَّةٍ قَالَ تُجْزِئُ عَنْهُ وَلَا تُجْزِئُ عَنْ أَحَدٍ بَعْدَهُ.
English Translation
He said: Hajjaj and Hujayn narrated to us, who said: Isra'il narrated to us, from Abu Ishaq, from al-Bara', from his maternal uncle Abu Burdah, that he said: "O Messenger of Allah, we have hastened to slaughter a sheep of ours for meat." The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Before the prayer?" I said: "Yes." He said: "That is merely a sheep for meat." He said: "O Messenger of Allah, we have a yearling goat that is dearer to me than an older one." He said: "It will suffice for you but will not suffice for anyone after you."
