حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو الْحُوَيْرِثِ حَفْصٌ مِنْ وَلَدِ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ أَبِي الْعَاصِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ يَعْلَى بْنِ كَعْبٍ عَنْ مَيْمُونَةَ بِنْتِ كَرْدَمٍ عَنْ أَبِيهَا كَرْدَمِ بْنِ سُفْيَانَ أَنَّهُ سَأَلَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ نَذْرٍ نُذِرَ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ فَقَالَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَلِوَثَنٍ أَوْ لِنُصُبٍ قَالَ لَا وَلَكِنْ لِلَّهِ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى قَالَ فَأَوْفِ لِلَّهِ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى مَا جَعَلْتَ لَهُ انْحَرْ عَلَى بُوَانَةَ وَأَوْفِ بِنَذْرِكَ.
English Translation
Abd al-Samad told us: Abu al-Huwayrith Hafs, of the descendants of Uthman ibn Abi al-As, told me: Abdullah ibn Abd al-Rahman ibn Ya'la ibn Ka'b told me, from Maymunah bint Kardam, from her father Kardam ibn Sufyan, that he asked the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, about a vow made during the pre-Islamic era. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said to him: "Was it for an idol or for a stone object of worship?" He said: "No, but rather it was for Allah, Blessed and Exalted." He said: "Then fulfill for Allah, Blessed and Exalted, what you vowed to Him: sacrifice at Buwanah and fulfill your vow."
