English Translation
Waki' told us, Hisham ibn Urwah told us, from his father, from Ibn Hizam, that he passed by some people of the protected non-Muslim community who had been made to stand in the sun in Syria. He said, "What is [the matter with] these people?" They said, "Some of the tax remains owed by them." He said, "I bear witness that I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say: Allah, Mighty and Sublime, will punish on the Day of Resurrection those who punish people [unjustly] in this world." He said: And the governor of the people at that time was Umayr ibn Sa'd, over Palestine. He said: So he went in to him and told him, and he released them. Ibn Numayr told us, Hisham told us, from his father, from Hisham ibn Hakim, that he passed by, in Syria, some people of the Nabataeans who had been made to stand in the sun, and he mentioned something similar.
