English Translation
Yazid ibn Harun told us: Sharik informed us, from Abd al-Aziz ibn Rufay', from Umayyah ibn Safwan ibn Umayyah, from his father, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, borrowed coats of mail from him on the day of Khaybar. He said, "Is this by compulsion, O Muhammad?" He said, "No, rather a guaranteed loan." He said: Some of it was lost, so the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, offered to compensate him for it, but he said, "Today, O Messenger of Allah, I am more devoted to Islam [than concerned with compensation]."
