English Translation
Asbat ibn Muhammad told us, 'Abdullah ibn al-Walid al-Wassafi told us, from 'Abdullah ibn 'Ubayd ibn 'Umayr, who said: A group of the Prophet's companions, peace and blessings be upon him, visited Jabir, and he set before them bread and vinegar, saying, "Eat, for I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say: 'What an excellent condiment vinegar is. It is ruinous for a man that a group of his brothers visit him and he belittles what is in his house, unwilling to set it before them; and it is ruinous for the group to belittle what is set before them.'"
