English Translation
Abidah told us, al-Aswad ibn Qays told me, from Nubayh al-Anazi, from Jabir ibn Abdullah, who said: We traveled with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him. The time for prayer came, and the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Does anyone among the people have water for purification?" A man came with some leftover water in a container, and poured it into a bowl. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, performed ablution from it. Then the people brought the remainder of the water for purification and said: "Wipe with it, wipe with it." The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, heard them and said: "Take it easy." The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, put his hand into the bowl, into the depth of the water, then said: "Perform the ablution thoroughly." Jabir ibn Abdullah said: "By the One who took away my sight" - and his sight had indeed gone - "I saw the water gushing out from between the fingers of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and he did not raise his hand until everyone had performed ablution." Al-Aswad said: I reckon he said: "We were two hundred or more."
