English Translation
Hajjaj told us, Layth told us, Yazid ibn Abi Habib told me that he said: Ata ibn Abi Rabah said: I heard Jabir ibn Abdullah, while he was in Mecca, say: The Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, said in the year of the Conquest: "God, Mighty and Majestic, and His Messenger have forbidden the sale of wine, carrion, pigs, and idols." It was said to him at that time: "O Messenger of God, what do you think of the fat of carrion, for ships are greased with it, hides are greased with it, and people use it for lighting?" He said: "No, it is forbidden." Then the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, said at that time: "May God fight the Jews. When God, Mighty and Majestic, forbade them its fat, they rendered it down, then sold it and ate its price."
