English Translation
Muhammad ibn Abi Adi told us, from Muhammad ibn Ishaq — and Yazid said: Muhammad ibn Ishaq informed us, in essence the same — from Muhammad ibn Ibrahim, from Ata' ibn Yasar, from Jabir ibn Abdullah, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said — Yazid said in his narration: I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say — "When you hear the barking of dogs and the braying of donkeys at night, seek refuge with Allah, for they see what you do not see. And minimize going out when the night has settled, for Allah, Mighty and Majestic, spreads abroad in the night whatever He wills of His creation. And close the doors and mention the name of Allah over them, for Satan does not open a door that has been closed with the name of Allah mentioned over it. And tie up the waterskins, cover the jars, and turn over the vessels." Yazid said: "and tie up the water-skins."
