حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ عَوْنٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا مِسْعَرٌ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ قَالَ يَعْنِي النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَا تُوَاصِلُوا قَالُوا فَإِنَّكَ تُوَاصِلُ قَالَ فَإِنِّي لَسْتُ كَأَحَدِكُمْ إِنِّي أَبِيتُ يُطْعِمُنِي رَبِّي وَيَسْقِينِي.
English Translation
Ja'far ibn Awn told us: Mis'ar informed us, from Qatada, from Anas, who said - meaning the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: Do not practice continuous fasting. They said: But you practice continuous fasting! He said: I am not like any of you - I spend the night while my Lord feeds me and gives me drink.
