English Translation
Yunus narrated to us: Layth narrated to us, from Yazid—that is, ibn al-Had—from 'Amr ibn Abi 'Amr, from Anas, who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say: "I am the first of people for whom the earth will split open over my skull on the Day of Resurrection, and no boast; and I will be given the banner of praise, and no boast; and I am the master of mankind on the Day of Resurrection, and no boast; and I am the first to enter Paradise on the Day of Resurrection, and no boast; and I will come to the gate of Paradise and take hold of its ring, and it will be said: 'Who is this?' and I will say: 'I am Muhammad,' and they will open for me, and I will enter. Then the Almighty, Mighty and Sublime, will be facing me, and I will prostrate to Him, and He will say: 'Raise your head, O Muhammad, and speak, you will be heard; and say, it will be accepted from you; and intercede, you will be granted intercession.' So I will raise my head and say: 'My nation, my nation, O Lord!' And He will say: 'Go to your nation; whoever you find in his heart the weight of a grain of barley of faith, admit him into Paradise.' So I will go, and whoever I find with that in his heart I will admit into Paradise. Then the Almighty, Mighty and Sublime, will be facing me again, and I will prostrate to Him, and He will say: 'Raise your head, O Muhammad, and speak, you will be heard; and say, it will be accepted from you; and intercede, you will be granted intercession.' So I will raise my head and say: 'My nation, my nation, O Lord!' And He will say: 'Go to your nation; whoever you find in his heart half the weight of a grain of barley of faith, admit them into Paradise.' So I will go, and whoever I find with that weight in his heart I will admit into Paradise. Then the Almighty, Mighty and Sublime, will be facing me again, and I will prostrate to Him, and He will say: 'Raise your head, O Muhammad, and speak, you will be heard; and say, it will be accepted from you; and intercede, you will be granted intercession.' So I will raise my head and say: 'My nation, my nation!' And He will say: 'Go to your nation; whoever you find in his heart the weight of a mustard seed of faith, admit him into Paradise.' So I will go, and whoever I find with that weight in his heart I will admit into Paradise. And Allah will finish the reckoning of the people, and will send whoever remains of my nation into the Fire with the people of the Fire. Then the people of the Fire will say: 'What did it avail you that you used to worship Allah, Mighty and Sublime, associating nothing with Him?' Then the Almighty, Mighty and Sublime, will say: 'By My might, I will surely free them from the Fire.' So He will send for them, and they will come out having been scorched, and enter the river of life, and grow in it as a seed grows in the silt carried by a flood; and it will be written between their eyes: 'These are the freed ones of Allah, Mighty and Sublime.' Then they will be taken and made to enter Paradise, and the people of Paradise will say about them: 'These are the people of Hell.' The Almighty will say: 'Rather, these are the freed ones of the Almighty, Mighty and Sublime.'" Abu Salama al-Khuza'i narrated to us: Layth ibn Sa'd narrated to us, from Yazid ibn al-Had, from 'Amr ibn Abi 'Amr, from Anas ibn Malik, who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say: "I am the first of people..." and he mentioned its meaning, except that he said "as the seed grows."
