English Translation
Harun ibn Ma'ruf told us, Ibn Wahb told us, he said: Amr informed me, from Yazid ibn Abi Habib, from Yazid ibn Abi Sa'id, the freed slave of al-Mahri, from his father, from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, sent word to Banu Lihyan that one man out of every two should go out on the expedition. Then he said to the one staying behind: "Whichever of you takes good care of the family and property of the one who goes out will have a reward equal to half the reward of the one who went out."
