حَدَّثَنَا حَفْصُ بْنُ عُمَرَ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ سُهَيْلِ بْنِ أَبِي صَالِحٍ، قَالَ خَرَجْتُ مَعَ أَبِي إِلَى الشَّامِ فَجَعَلُوا يَمُرُّونَ بِصَوَامِعَ فِيهَا نَصَارَى فَيُسَلِّمُونَ عَلَيْهِمْ فَقَالَ أَبِي لاَ تَبْدَءُوهُمْ بِالسَّلاَمِ فَإِنَّ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ حَدَّثَنَا عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ " لاَ تَبْدَءُوهُمْ بِالسَّلاَمِ وَإِذَا لَقِيتُمُوهُمْ فِي الطَّرِيقِ فَاضْطَرُّوهُمْ إِلَى أَضْيَقِ الطَّرِيقِ " .
English Translation
Hadrat Suhayl ibn Abi Salih narrates: I went out with my father towards Syria. On the way, people would pass by monasteries in which there were Christians, and they would greet them with peace. My father said: Do not initiate the greeting of peace with them, for Hadrat Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be well pleased with him) narrated to us from the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) that he stated: Do not initiate the greeting of peace with them, and when you meet them on the road, compel them to the narrowest part of it.
Urdu Translation
حضرت سہیل بن ابی صالح فرماتے ہیں کہ میں اپنے والد کے ساتھ شام کی طرف نکلا، راستے میں لوگ ایسے عبادت خانوں کے پاس سے گزرتے جن میں نصاریٰ تھے اور انہیں سلام کرتے۔ میرے والد نے فرمایا: انہیں پہلے سلام نہ کرو، کیونکہ حضرت ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے ہمیں رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم سے بیان کیا کہ آپ نے ارشاد فرمایا: انہیں پہلے سلام نہ کرو اور جب راستے میں ان سے ملو تو انہیں تنگ راستے کی طرف مجبور کرو۔
