حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ يَحْيَى، حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ عُمَرَ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ بْنِ عَمَّارٍ، عَنْ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، قَالَ قَالَ رَجُلٌ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّا كُنَّا فِي دَارٍ كَثِيرٌ فِيهَا عَدَدُنَا وَكَثِيرٌ فِيهَا أَمْوَالُنَا فَتَحَوَّلْنَا إِلَى دَارٍ أُخْرَى فَقَلَّ فِيهَا عَدَدُنَا وَقَلَّتْ فِيهَا أَمْوَالُنَا . فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم " ذَرُوهَا ذَمِيمَةً " .
English Translation
Hadrat Abu al-Darda (may Allah be well pleased with him) states: The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) was asked about (the verse) 'And to Him has submitted whoever is in the heavens and the earth, willingly or unwillingly' (Aal Imran: 83). He (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated: Every child is born upon the natural disposition (fitrah, i.e. Islam) — then he narrated the rest of the hadith. Abu Dawud (upon him be mercy) said: In place of Khalid, Jarir ibn Hazim also narrated this from Humayd al-A'raj from Muhammad ibn Ibrahim al-Taymi from Abu Salamah from Hadrat Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be well pleased with him) as a marfu' (elevated) tradition; and it has also been narrated from Abu Salamah from Hadrat Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be well pleased with him).
Urdu Translation
حضرت ابوالدرداء رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ فرماتے ہیں: رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم سے «وَلَهُ أَسْلَمَ مَنْ فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ طَوْعًا وَكَرْهًا» (آل عمران: ۸۳) کے بارے میں پوچھا گیا تو آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: ہر بچہ فطرت (اسلام) پر پیدا ہوتا ہے — پھر انہوں نے حدیث کا باقی حصہ بیان کیا۔ حضرت ابوداؤد رحمۃ اللہ علیہ کہتے ہیں: اس (حدیث) کو خالد کی جگہ جریر بن حازم نے بھی حمید الاعرج سے محمد بن ابراہیم التیمی سے حضرت ابوسلمہ سے حضرت ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے مرفوعاً روایت کیا ہے اور اسے حضرت ابوسلمہ سے حضرت ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے بھی روایت کیا گیا ہے۔
