Arabic (Original)
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدَةَ الضَّبِّيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا الْمُغِيرَةُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ شُعَيْبٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ : " لاَ نَذْرَ إِلاَّ فِيمَا يُبْتَغَى بِهِ وَجْهُ اللَّهِ، وَلاَ يَمِينَ فِي قَطِيعَةِ رَحِمٍ " .
English Translation
Hadrat Abdullah ibn Amr ibn al-As (may Allah be well pleased with them both) narrates through his father and grandfather that the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated: 'A vow is only valid in that by which the pleasure of Allah is sought, and there is no oath in severing family ties.'
Urdu Translation
حضرت عبداللہ بن حضرت عمرو بن العاص رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہما سے ان کے والد اور دادا کے واسطے سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: نذر صرف اس کام میں ہے جس سے اللہ تعالیٰ کی رضا مطلوب ہو، اور قطع رحمی میں کوئی قسم نہیں۔
