Arabic (Original)
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ يُونُسَ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي الْعُشَرَاءِ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَمَا تَكُونُ الذَّكَاةُ إِلاَّ مِنَ اللَّبَّةِ أَوِ الْحَلْقِ قَالَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم " لَوْ طَعَنْتَ فِي فَخِذِهَا لأَجْزَأَ عَنْكَ " . قَالَ أَبُو دَاوُدَ وَهَذَا لاَ يَصْلُحُ إِلاَّ فِي الْمُتَرَدِّيَةِ وَالْمُتَوَحِّشِ .
English Translation
It is narrated by Abu al-Ushara' on the authority of his father, Hadrat Malik ibn Qahtam (may Allah be well pleased with him), that he submitted: O Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), is slaughtering to be done only at the throat and upper breast? The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated: If you pierced its thigh, it would suffice for you. Abu Dawud (upon him be mercy) said: This applies only to an animal that has fallen into a well or has bolted and cannot be caught for proper slaughter.
Urdu Translation
حضرت ابوالعشراء اسامہ کے والد مالک بن قہطم رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ انہوں نے عرض کیا: یا رسول اللہ! کیا ذبح صرف حلق اور سینے ہی میں ہوتا ہے؟ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: اگر تم اس کی ران میں نیزہ مار دو تو وہ بھی تمہارے لیے کافی ہے۔ حضرت ابوداؤد فرماتے ہیں: یہ صرف اس جانور کے لیے ہے جو کنویں میں گر جائے یا بدک جائے (کہ اسے ذبح کے لیے قابو نہ کیا جا سکے)۔
