Arabic (Original)
حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى، عَنِ الْمُهَلَّبِ بْنِ أَبِي حَبِيبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ، عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرَةَ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم " لاَ يَقُولَنَّ أَحَدُكُمْ إِنِّي صُمْتُ رَمَضَانَ كُلَّهُ وَ قُمْتُهُ كُلَّهُ " . فَلاَ أَدْرِي أَكَرِهَ التَّزْكِيَةَ أَوْ قَالَ لاَ بُدَّ مِنْ نَوْمَةٍ أَوْ رَقْدَةٍ .
English Translation
It is narrated from Hadrat Abu Bakrah (may Allah be well pleased with him) that the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated: "Let none of you say: I fasted the entire Ramadan and stood in prayer throughout it." The narrator said: I do not know whether the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) disliked self-praise, or whether he said it because one inevitably has some sleep or rest (and thus cannot claim to have done it entirely).
Urdu Translation
حضرت ابوبکرہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: "تم میں سے کوئی ہرگز یہ نہ کہے کہ میں نے پورا رمضان روزے رکھے اور پوری راتیں قیام کیا۔" راوی نے کہا: مجھے معلوم نہیں کہ آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے اپنی تعریف کرنا (تزکیہ) ناپسند فرمایا یا یہ فرمایا کہ (پورا مہینہ بغیر وقفے کے ممکن نہیں کیونکہ) کچھ نہ کچھ سونا یا آرام کرنا ضرور ہوتا ہے۔
