حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مَسْلَمَةَ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ، عَنْ أَبِي النَّضْرِ، مَوْلَى عُمَرَ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ التَّيْمِيِّ عَنْ نَافِعٍ، مَوْلَى أَبِي قَتَادَةَ الأَنْصَارِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ، أَنَّهُ كَانَ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم حَتَّى إِذَا كَانَ بِبَعْضِ طَرِيقِ مَكَّةَ تَخَلَّفَ مَعَ أَصْحَابٍ لَهُ مُحْرِمِينَ وَهُوَ غَيْرُ مُحْرِمٍ فَرَأَى حِمَارًا وَحْشِيًّا فَاسْتَوَى عَلَى فَرَسِهِ قَالَ فَسَأَلَ أَصْحَابَهُ أَنْ يُنَاوِلُوهُ سَوْطَهُ فَأَبَوْا فَسَأَلَهُمْ رُمْحَهُ فَأَبَوْا فَأَخَذَهُ ثُمَّ شَدَّ عَلَى الْحِمَارِ فَقَتَلَهُ فَأَكَلَ مِنْهُ بَعْضُ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم وَأَبَى بَعْضُهُمْ فَلَمَّا أَدْرَكُوا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم سَأَلُوهُ عَنْ ذَلِكَ فَقَالَ " إِنَّمَا هِيَ طُعْمَةٌ أَطْعَمَكُمُوهَا اللَّهُ تَعَالَى " .
English Translation
Hadrat Abu Qatadah (may Allah be well pleased with him) narrated that he was with the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him). When they were on one of the routes to Makkah al-Mukarramah, he stayed behind with some companions who were in ihram, while he himself was not. He saw a wild donkey, mounted his horse, and asked his companions to hand him his whip, but they refused. He then asked for his lance, and they refused again. So he took it himself, charged at the wild donkey, and killed it. Some of the Companions of the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) ate from it while others declined. When they came to the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) and asked about it, the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) graciously said: It was but sustenance that Allah the Exalted provided for you.
Urdu Translation
حضرت ابو قتادہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ وہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے ہمراہ تھے، یہاں تک کہ جب مکہ مکرمہ کے کسی راستے میں تھے تو اپنے چند ساتھیوں کے ساتھ جو محرم تھے پیچھے رہ گئے، جبکہ خود محرم نہ تھے۔ انہوں نے ایک جنگلی گدھا دیکھا تو اپنے گھوڑے پر سوار ہوئے اور ساتھیوں سے اپنا کوڑا مانگا مگر انہوں نے دینے سے انکار کیا، پھر ان سے اپنا نیزہ مانگا تو انہوں نے پھر انکار کیا۔ پھر انہوں نے خود نیزہ لیا اور جنگلی گدھے پر حملہ کر کے اسے مار ڈالا۔ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے بعض اصحاب نے اس میں سے تناول فرمایا اور بعض نے انکار کیا۔ جب وہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کی بارگاہ میں حاضر ہوئے تو اس بارے میں دریافت کیا۔ حضور اقدس صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: یہ تو ایک رزق تھا جو اللہ تعالیٰ نے تمہیں عطا فرمایا۔
