Arabic (Original)
حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ، وَسُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ الْعَتَكِيُّ، قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، قَالَ قَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ فَعَدَلَ النَّاسُ بَعْدُ نِصْفَ صَاعٍ مِنْ بُرٍّ . قَالَ وَكَانَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ يُعْطِي التَّمْرَ فَأَعْوَزَ أَهْلَ الْمَدِينَةِ التَّمْرُ عَامًا فَأَعْطَى الشَّعِيرَ .
English Translation
Nafi' narrates that Hadrat Abdullah (ibn 'Umar) (may Allah be well pleased with them both) said: The people then equated half a sa' of wheat (with one sa' of other items). Hadrat Abdullah (ibn 'Umar) (may Allah be well pleased with them both) used to give dates. One year dates became scarce in the illumined city of Madinah, so he gave barley instead.
Urdu Translation
نافع فرماتے ہیں کہ حضرت عبداللہ (بن عمر) رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہما نے فرمایا: پھر لوگوں نے آدھے صاع گیہوں کو (ایک صاع کھجور وغیرہ کے) برابر قرار دے لیا۔ حضرت عبداللہ (بن عمر) رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہما کھجور ہی دیا کرتے تھے — ایک سال مدینہ منورہ میں کھجور کا ملنا دشوار ہو گیا تو انہوں نے جَو دیا۔
