Ḥadīth | Ṭabarānī (الطبراني) tabarani:8808 حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ النَّضْرِ الْأَزْدِيُّ ثنا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو ثنا زَائِدَةُ ثنا الْأَعْمَشُ عَنْ شَقِيقٍ قَالَ قَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ «وَاللهِ إِنِّي لَأَحْسِبُ عِلْمَ عُمَرَ لَوْ وُضِعَ فِي كِفَّةِ الْمِيزَانِ وَوُضِعَ سَائِرُ أَحْيَاءِ أَهْلِ الْأَرْضِ فِي كِفَّةِ الْمِيزَانِ لَرَجَحَ عَلَيْهِ عَلْمُ عُمَرَ ؓ » قَالَ سُلَيْمَانُ فَذَكَرْتُهُ فَقَالَ لَقَدْ قَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ أَفْضَلَ مِنْ ذَلِكَ قَالَ «إِنِّي لَأَظُنُّ عُمَرَ قَدْ ذَهَبَ بِتِسْعَةِ أَعْشَارِ الْعِلْمِ»
الترجمة الإنجليزية
Abdullah said: 'By Allah, I consider that if the knowledge of Umar were placed in one pan of a scale and the knowledge of all the living people on earth in the other, the knowledge of Umar would outweigh theirs.' Sulayman said: I mentioned this, and he said: 'Abdullah said something even greater than that. He said: I think that Umar took away nine-tenths of all knowledge.'
