Abu Umamah al-Bahili reported: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) came out to us after the Fajr prayer and said, 'I saw a vision, and it is true, so understand it. A man came to me and took my hand and made me follow him until he brought me to a steep, tall mountain. He said to me: Climb it. I said: I cannot. He said: I will make it easy for you. So every time I climbed, I placed my foot on a step until we stood at the top of the mountain. Then we went on, and there were men and women whose mouths were being torn open. I said: Who are these? He said: These are those who say what they do not know. Then we went on, and there were men and women whose eyes and ears were being nailed. I said: Who are these? He said: These are those who show their eyes what they do not see and make their ears hear what they do not hear. Then we went on, and there were women hanging by their heels with their heads downward and snakes biting their breasts. I said: Who are these? He said: These are those who prevent their children from their milk. Then we went on, and there were men and women hanging by their heels with their heads downward, licking from a little water and mud. I said: Who are these? He said: These are those who fast but break their fast before the proper time. Then we went on, and there were men and women, the ugliest in appearance, the worst in dress, and the most foul in smell, as if their smell was that of latrines. I said: Who are these? He said: These are the adulterers and adulteresses. Then we went on, and there were corpses, the most swollen and foul-smelling. I said: Who are these? He said: These are the dead of the disbelievers. Then we went on, and we saw smoke and heard howling. I said: What is this? He said: This is Hellfire, so leave it. Then we went on, and there were men sleeping under the shade of trees. I said: Who are these? He said: The dead of the Muslims. Then we went on, and there were boys and girls playing between two rivers. I said: Who are these? He said: The offspring of the believers. Then we went on, and there were men, the most handsome in appearance, the best in dress, and the most pleasant in smell, as if their faces were white sheets. I said: Who are these? He said: These are the truthful, the martyrs, and the righteous. Then we went on, and there were three persons drinking their wine and singing. I said: Who are these? He said: That is Zayd ibn Harithah, Ja'far, and Ibn Rawahah. I inclined toward them, and they said: You have attained it, you have attained it. Then I raised my head, and there were three persons under the Throne. I said: Who are these? He said: That is your father Ibrahim, Musa, and Isa, and they are waiting for you, may Allah bless them all.'
