Abu Ayyub al-Ansari said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) stayed with me for a month. I observed that when the sun passed its zenith, if he was doing worldly work, he would abandon it, and if he was sleeping, it was as though he was awakened. He would get up, bathe or perform ablution, then pray four rak'ahs, perfecting them and taking his time in them. When he was about to leave, I said: O Messenger of Allah, I noticed that when the sun declines, you abandon any worldly work, or if you are sleeping, it is as though you are awakened, and you bathe or perform ablution and pray four rak'ahs, perfecting them. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "The gates of heaven - or the gates of Paradise - are opened at that hour, and no one offers this prayer but I love that good deeds ascend from me to my Lord at that hour."
