It is narrated from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the funeral of a person who owed a debt was brought to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), he would ask: "Has he left behind enough wealth to cover his debt?" If the people said, "Yes, he has left," he would pray over him; otherwise he would say to the people, "Pray over your companion." Then when Allah opened the door of conquests to him, he said: "I am closer to the believers than their own selves (this is the utmost love, that he became dearer to them than themselves). Now whoever dies indebted, the repayment of the debt is upon me, and whoever leaves behind wealth, it belongs to his heirs." [Mukhtasar Sahih Muslim, Hadith: 999]
الترجمة الأردية
سیدنا ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہرسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکے پاس ایسے شخص کا جنازہ لایا جاتا تھا جس پر قرض ہوتا تو آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمپوچھتے:”کیا اس نے اتنا مال چھوڑا ہے جو اس کے قرض کو کافی ہو؟“اگر لوگ کہتے کہ ہاں چھوڑا ہے تو نماز پڑھتے اور نہیں تو لوگوں سے فرما دیتے کہ تم اپنے ساتھی پر نماز پڑھ لو۔ پھر جب اللہ تعالیٰ نے آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمپر فتوحات کا دروازہ کھول دیا تو آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا:”میں مومنوں کا خود ان کی جانوں سے زیادہ نزدیک ہوں (یہ انتہائی محبت ہے کہ خود ان سے زیادہ ان کے دوست ہوئے) اب جو کوئی قرض دار مرے تو قرض کا ادا کرنا میرے ذمہ ہے اور جو کوئی مال چھوڑ کر مرے تو وہ اس کے وارثوں کا ہے۔“[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 999]
