Narrated Nu'man ibn Bashir (may Allah be pleased with him): I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) say — and Nu'man pointed with his fingers toward his two ears (to indicate that he had heard it with his own ears) — "Indeed, the lawful is clear and the unlawful is clear, but between the lawful and the unlawful are matters that resemble both, that is, matters of doubt (shubuhat), which many people do not know. So whoever guards against doubtful matters keeps his religion and his honor safe, and whoever falls into doubtful matters will in the end fall into the unlawful too — like the shepherd who grazes his flock around a protected pasture (hima); it is likely his animals will graze in the protected pasture too. Beware! Every king has a pasture (protected boundary), and know that the protected things of Allah the Exalted are the things He has made unlawful. Know that in the body there is a piece of flesh; if it is sound, the whole body is sound, and if it is corrupt, the whole body is corrupt. And remember that this piece is the heart." الترجمة الأردية
سیدنا نعمان بن بشیر رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہمیں نے رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمسے سنا، آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمفرماتے تھے اور سیدنا نعمان نے اپنی انگلیوں سے دونوں کانوں کی طرف اشارہ کیا (یعنی یہ بتانے کے لئے کہ میں نے اپنے کانوں سے سنا ہے) کہ یقیناً حلال واضح ہے اور حرام بھی واضح ہے لیکن حلال و حرام کے درمیان ایسی چیزیں ہیں جو دونوں سے ملتی ہیں، یعنی ان میں شبہہ ہے۔ اور ان کو بہت سے لوگ نہیں جانتے۔ تو جو شبہات سے بچا، وہ اپنے دین اور آبرو کو سلامت لے گیا اور جو شبہات میں پڑا، وہ آخر حرام میں بھی پڑا اس چرواہے کی طرح جو حما (یعنی روکی ہوئی زمین) چراگاہ کے آس پاس چراتا ہے۔ قریب ہے کہ اس کے جانور حما کو بھی چر جائیں گے۔ خبردار! ہر بادشاہ کے لئے چراگاہ یا حدود ہوتی ہیں اور آگاہ رہو کہ اللہ تعالیٰ کی روکی ہوئی چیز اس کی حرام کی ہوئی چیزیں ہیں۔ جان رکھو بیشک بدن میں گوشت کا ایک ٹکڑا ہے اگر وہ سنور گیا تو سارا بدن سنور گیا اور جو وہ بگڑ گیا تو سارا بدن بگڑ گیا اور یاد رکھو کہ وہ ٹکڑا دل ہے۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 956]
