Narrated Umm al-Mu'minin A'ishah al-Siddiqah (may Allah be pleased with her): The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) came to me while a man was sitting with me. This was very displeasing to him (peace be upon him), and I saw anger on his (peace be upon him) face. So I said: O Messenger of Allah! This is my foster-brother. He (peace be upon him) said: "Consider carefully who your foster-brothers are, for the suckling that counts is only that which is in the time of (infant) hunger (i.e., within the period of nursing, that is, within two years)." (Or its meaning is that foster-relationship (rada'ah) is established only when the child drinks enough milk to satisfy hunger; one or two sips do not establish it. And Allah knows best.) الترجمة الأردية
ام المؤمنین عائشہ صدیقہ رضی اللہ عنہا کہتی ہیں کہرسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلممیرے پاس آئے اور اس وقت میرے پاس ایک شخص بیٹھا ہوا تھا۔ آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکو سخت ناگوار گزرا اور آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکے چہرہ پر میں نے غصہ دیکھا، تو میں نے عرض کیا کہ یا رسول اللہ! یہ میرا دودھ شریک بھائی ہے۔ آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا کہ ذرا غور کیا کرو دودھ کے بھائیوں میں، اس لئے کہ دودھ پینا وہی معتبر ہے جو بھوک کے وقت میں ہو (یعنی ایام رضاعت میں یعنی دو برس کے اندر)۔ (یا اس کا مطلب یہ ہے کہ رضاعت تب ثابت ہو گی جب بچہ اتنا دودھ پیئے کہ بھوک مٹ جائے۔ ایک دو گھونٹ پینے سے رضاعت حاصل نہ ہو گی۔ (واللہ اعلم)[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 882]
