Abu 'Uthman al-Nahdi narrates from Sayyiduna Hanzalah al-Usayyidi (may Allah be pleased with him) (and says that he was one of the scribes of the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him), who said: Sayyiduna Abu Bakr al-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) met me and asked, "How are you, O Hanzalah?" I said, "Hanzalah has become a hypocrite (that is, unfaithful)." Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "Glory be to Allah! What are you saying?" I said, "When we are with the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) and he reminds us of Hell and Paradise, it is as if they are before our eyes. But when we leave him and become occupied with our wives, children, and affairs, we forget much." Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "By Allah! We experience the same." Then Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) and I both went to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), and I said, "O Messenger of Allah! Hanzalah has become a hypocrite." He (peace be upon him) said, "What do you mean?" I said, "O Messenger of Allah! When we are with you and you remind us of Hell and Paradise, it is as if they are before our eyes. But when we leave you and become occupied with our wives, children, and other affairs, we forget much." The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "By the One in whose Hand is my soul! If you were to remain always in the state you are in when you are with me and in the remembrance of Allah, the angels would shake hands with you on your beds and on your paths. But O Hanzalah! An hour of this and an hour of that (an hour for worldly affairs and an hour for the remembrance of the Lord)." He said this three times.
الترجمة الأردية
ابوعثمان نہدی سیدنا حنظلہ اسیدی رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت کرتے ہیں (اور کہتے ہیں کہ وہ رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکے کاتبوں میں سے تھے)، انہوں نے کہا کہسیدنا ابوبکر صدیق رضی اللہ عنہ مجھ سے ملے اور پوچھا کہ اے حنظلہ! تو کیسا ہے؟ میں نے کہا کہ حنظلہ رضی اللہ عنہ تو منافق ہو گیا (یعنی بے ایمان)۔ سیدنا ابوبکر رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا کہ سبحان اللہ! تو کیا کہتا ہے؟ میں نے کہا کہ ہم رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکے پاس ہوتے ہیں، آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمہمیں دوزخ اور جنت یاد دلاتے ہیں تو گویا کہ وہ دونوں ہماری آنکھوں کے سامنے ہیں۔ پھر جب ہم آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکے پاس سے نکل آتے ہیں تو بیوی بچوں اور کاروبار میں مصروف ہو جاتے ہیں تو بہت سی باتیں بھول جاتے ہیں۔ سیدنا ابوبکر رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا کہ اللہ کی قسم! ہمارا بھی یہی حال ہے۔ پھر میں اور سیدنا ابوبکر رضی اللہ عنہ دونوں رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکے پاس پہنچے تو میں نے عرض کیا کہ یا رسول اللہ! حنظلہ تو منافق ہو گیا۔ آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا کہ تیرا کیا مطلب ہے؟ میں نے عرض کیا کہ یا رسول اللہ! جب ہم آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکے پاس ہوتے ہیں اور آپ ہمیں دوزخ اور جنت یاد دلاتے ہیں تو گویا کہ وہ دونوں ہماری آنکھ کے سامنے ہیں۔ پھر جب ہم آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکے پاس سے چلے جاتے ہیں تو بیوی بچوں اور دوسرے کاموں میں مشغول ہو جاتے ہیں اور بہت باتیں بھول جاتے ہیں۔ آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا کہ قسم اس کی جس کے ہاتھ میں میری جان ہے! اگر تم سدا اسی حال پر قائم رہو جس طرح میرے پاس رہتے ہو اور یاد الٰہی میں رہو تو البتہ فرشتے تم سے تمہارے بستروں اور تمہاری راہوں میں مصافحہ کریں لیکن اے حنظلہ! ایک ساعت دنیا کا کاروبار اور ایک ساعت رب کی یاد۔ تین بار یہ فرمایا۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 1887]
