Sayyiduna Abu Hurayra (may Allah be pleased with him) said: We were sitting with the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) when Surah al-Jumu'a was revealed. So when he (peace be upon him) recited the verse — "Glorified is Allah, who has sent to the Arabs a Prophet, and to others also who have not yet joined the Arabs" (al-Jumu'a: 3) — a man asked: O Messenger of Allah! Who are these people who are other than the Arabs? He (peace be upon him) gave him no answer until he asked once, twice, or three times. At that time Sayyiduna Salman al-Farisi (may Allah be pleased with him) was also sitting among us. So he (peace be upon him) placed his blessed hand upon him and said: If faith were at the Pleiades (the stars), even then some men of his people would attain it.
الترجمة الأردية
سیدنا ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہہم رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکے ساتھ بیٹھے تھے کہ سورۃ الجمعہ نازل ہوئی۔ پس جب آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے یہ آیت پڑھی کہ”پاک ہے وہ اللہ جس نے عرب کی طرف پیغمبر بھیجا اور اوروں کی طرف بھی جو ابھی عرب سے نہیں ملے“(الجمعہ: 3) ایک شخص نے پوچھا کہ یا رسول اللہ! یہ لوگ کون ہیں جو عرب کے سوا ہیں؟ آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے اس کو جواب نہ دیا یہاں تک کہ اس نے ایک، دو یا تین بار پوچھا۔ اس وقت ہم لوگوں میں سیدنا سلمان فارسی رضی اللہ عنہ بھی بیٹھے ہوئے تھے۔ پس آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے اپنا دست مبارک ان پر رکھا اور فرمایا کہ اگر ایمان ثریا (ستارے) پر ہوتا تو بھی ان کی قوم میں سے کچھ لوگ اس تک پہنچ جاتے۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 1751]
