Hadrat Anas ibn Malik (may Allah be well pleased with him) narrated that Abdullah ibn Salam came to the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) upon his arrival in Madinah and said: "I shall ask you about three things that only a prophet knows." He (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated: "Ask." He said: "What is the first sign of the Hour? What is the first food the people of Paradise will eat? And what causes a child to resemble his father or his mother?" He (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated: "Jibril (upon him be peace) has just informed me of them." He said: "Jibril?" He stated: "Yes." He said: "That is the enemy of the Jews among the angels." He (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated: "As for the first sign of the Hour — a fire that will emerge from the East, driving the people to the West. As for the first food the people of Paradise will eat — the extra lobe of a whale's liver. As for the child's resemblance — if the father's fluid precedes the mother's, the child resembles the father; and if the mother's fluid precedes, the child resembles the mother." He declared: "I bear witness that there is no deity but Allah and that you are the Messenger of Allah." Then he submitted: "O Messenger of Allah, the Jews are a slanderous people. Summon them and ask them about me before they know of my Islam." A group of them came, and the Beloved Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) asked them: "What kind of man is Abdullah ibn Salam among you?" They said: "The best of us and the son of the best of us, our master and the son of our master, the most learned among us and the son of the most learned." The Beloved Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated: "What if he accepts Islam?" They said: "May Allah protect him from that." Then Abdullah ibn Salam came out and declared: "I bear witness that there is no deity but Allah." They said: "He is the worst of us and the son of the worst of us." Abdullah said: "This is what I feared."
الترجمة الأردية
حضرت انس بن مالک رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ عبداللہ بن سلام رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے پاس آپ کی مدینہ تشریف آوری پر آئے اور عرض کیا: میں آپ سے تین باتیں پوچھتا ہوں جو صرف نبی جانتا ہے۔ آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے فرمایا: «پوچھو۔» انہوں نے کہا: قیامت کی پہلی نشانی کیا ہے؟ جنت والوں کا پہلا کھانا کیا ہوگا؟ اور بچہ اپنے باپ یا ماں پر کس وجہ سے جاتا ہے؟ آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے فرمایا: «ابھی جبریل علیہ السلام نے مجھے ان کی خبر دی۔» انہوں نے کہا: جبریل؟ آپ نے فرمایا: «ہاں۔» انہوں نے کہا: یہ تو فرشتوں میں یہود کا دشمن ہے۔ آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے فرمایا: «قیامت کی پہلی نشانی ایک آگ ہے جو مشرق سے نکلے گی اور لوگوں کو مغرب کی طرف ہانکے گی۔ جنت والوں کا پہلا کھانا مچھلی کے جگر کا اضافی ٹکڑا ہوگا۔ اور بچے کی شباہت — جب مرد کا پانی عورت کے پانی سے پہلے آئے تو بچہ باپ پر جاتا ہے، اور جب عورت کا پانی مرد سے پہلے آئے تو بچہ ماں پر جاتا ہے۔» انہوں نے کہا: میں گواہی دیتا ہوں کہ اللہ کے سوا کوئی معبود نہیں اور آپ اللہ کے رسول ہیں۔ پھر عرض کیا: یا رسول اللہ، یہود بہتان لگانے والی قوم ہے، انہیں بلائیے اور میرے بارے میں پوچھیے قبل اس کے کہ انہیں میرے اسلام کا علم ہو۔ ان کا ایک گروہ آیا، نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ان سے پوچھا: «عبداللہ بن سلام تم میں کیسا آدمی ہے؟» انہوں نے کہا: ہم میں سب سے اچھا اور سب سے اچھے کا بیٹا، ہمارا سردار اور سردار کا بیٹا، ہم میں سب سے عالم اور عالم کا بیٹا۔ نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے فرمایا: «اگر یہ مسلمان ہو جائے تو؟» انہوں نے کہا: اللہ اسے اس سے بچائے۔ پھر عبداللہ بن سلام باہر نکلے اور کہا: میں گواہی دیتا ہوں کہ اللہ کے سوا کوئی معبود نہیں۔ یہود نے کہا: یہ ہم میں سب سے برا ہے اور سب سے برے کا بیٹا۔ عبداللہ نے کہا: مجھے اسی بات کا خوف تھا۔
