Hadrat Anas ibn Malik (may Allah be well pleased with him) narrated that he was ten years old when the Beloved Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) arrived in Madinah. He said: My mothers used to urge me to serve the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him). He said: "I served the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) for ten years during his life in Madinah. The Beloved Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) passed away when I was twenty years old." He said: "I was the most knowledgeable of people regarding the matter of the hijab (veil) when it was revealed. Ubayy ibn Ka'b used to ask me about it." He said: "The first occasion it was revealed was regarding the marriage of the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) to Zaynab bint Jahsh. The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) became a bridegroom with her and invited the people who ate the food and left, but a group remained with the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) and stayed for a long time. The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) got up and went out, and I went out with him so that they would leave. The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) walked and I walked with him until he came to the doorstep of Umm al-Mu'minin Hadrat Aishah's (may Allah be well pleased with her) chamber. Then the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) thought they had left, so he returned and I returned with him until he entered upon Zaynab, and they were still sitting and had not left. So the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) went back and I went back with him until he reached the doorstep of Umm al-Mu'minin Hadrat Aishah's (may Allah be well pleased with her) chamber. He thought they had left, so he returned and I returned, and they had indeed left. Then he placed a curtain between himself and them, and the verse of hijab was revealed."
الترجمة الأردية
حضرت انس بن مالک رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ جب نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم مدینہ تشریف لائے تو وہ دس سال کے تھے۔ فرماتے ہیں: میری مائیں مجھے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کی خدمت پر ابھارتی تھیں۔ فرماتے ہیں: میں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کی مدینہ میں دس سال خدمت کی اور نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کا وصال ہوا جب میں بیس سال کا تھا۔ فرماتے ہیں: جب حجاب کا حکم نازل ہوا تو میں لوگوں میں سب سے زیادہ اس کے بارے میں جاننے والا تھا، حضرت اُبی بن کعب رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ مجھ سے اس کے بارے میں پوچھا کرتے تھے۔ فرماتے ہیں: سب سے پہلے یہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کی حضرت زینب بنت جحش رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا سے شادی کے موقع پر نازل ہوا۔ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ان کے ساتھ صبح دلہا کے طور پر کی اور لوگوں کو بلایا، انہوں نے کھانا کھایا اور چلے گئے لیکن ایک گروہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے پاس بیٹھا رہا اور بہت دیر تک رکے رہے۔ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم اٹھے اور باہر نکلے اور میں بھی آپ کے ساتھ نکلا تاکہ وہ لوگ چلے جائیں۔ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم چلے اور میں آپ کے ساتھ چلا یہاں تک کہ اُمّ المؤمنین حضرت عائشہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا کے حجرے کی چوکھٹ تک آئے۔ پھر رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے سمجھا کہ وہ لوگ چلے گئے ہوں گے تو واپس آئے اور میں بھی آپ کے ساتھ واپس آیا یہاں تک کہ حضرت زینب کے پاس داخل ہوئے تو وہ لوگ ابھی بیٹھے تھے نہیں اٹھے تھے۔ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم واپس لوٹے اور میں بھی آپ کے ساتھ لوٹا یہاں تک کہ اُمّ المؤمنین حضرت عائشہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا کے حجرے کی چوکھٹ تک پہنچے۔ آپ نے سمجھا کہ وہ چلے گئے ہوں گے تو واپس آئے اور میں بھی واپس آیا تو وہ جا چکے تھے۔ پھر آپ نے ان کے اور اپنے درمیان پردہ ڈال دیا اور حجاب کا حکم نازل ہوا۔
