Hamid ibn Muhammad ibn Shu'ayb al-Balkhi at Baghdad informed us, he said: Surayj ibn Yunus narrated to us, he said: Sufyan narrated to us, from al-Zuhri, from Humayd ibn 'Abd al-Rahman, that he heard Hadrat Abu Hurayrah say: A man came to the Beloved Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) and said: "I am ruined." He said: «What is your situation?» He said: "I had intercourse with my wife." He said: «Can you find the means to free a slave?» He said: "No." He said: «Can you fast for two consecutive months?» He said: "No." He said: «Can you feed sixty poor people?» He said: "No." He said: «Sit down.» Then he was brought a basket containing dates - which is a large container - he said: «Take this and give it in charity to sixty poor people.» He said: "There is no household between its two lava fields poorer than us." He said: The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) laughed until his canine teeth became visible and said: «Take it and feed it to your family.»
