Hadrat Abdullah ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be well pleased with him) narrated: We were talking one night at the Beloved Messenger of Allah's (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) place and talked for a long time. Then we returned to our homes. When morning came, we went to the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him). He stated: "The prophets were displayed before me tonight with their followers from their nations. A prophet would come with three people, a prophet with a group, a prophet with a few, and a prophet with no one from his people. Then Musa ibn 'Imran passed before me with a great multitude from the Children of Israel. When I saw them, I was impressed and said: 'O Lord, who are these?' He said: 'This is your brother Musa ibn 'Imran and those who followed him from the Children of Israel.' I said: 'O Lord, where is my Ummah?' He said: 'Look to your right.' I looked, and there were the hilltops of Makkah covered with the faces of men. He said: 'Are you pleased?' I said: 'O Lord, I am pleased.' Then He said: 'Among these are seventy thousand who will enter Paradise without any reckoning.'" 'Ukkasha ibn Mihsan of the Banu Asad ibn Khuzayma stood up and said: 'O Prophet of Allah, pray to your Lord to make me one of them.' He stated: 'O Allah, make him one of them.' Then another man stood and said: 'O Prophet of Allah, pray to your Lord to make me one of them.' He stated: 'Ukkasha has preceded you to it.' Then the Prophet of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated: 'May my father and mother be your ransom — if you can be among the seventy thousand, then be so. If you cannot, then be among the people of the hilltops. If you cannot, then be among the people of the horizon, for I saw people there jostling greatly.' Then he stated: 'I hope that those who follow me from my Ummah will be a quarter of the people of Paradise.' We exclaimed: Allah is Greatest! He stated: 'I hope you will be a third.' We exclaimed: Allah is Greatest! He stated: 'I hope you will be half.' We exclaimed: Allah is Greatest! Then the Prophet of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) recited: {A company of the former peoples, and a company of the later peoples} [al-Waqi'ah: 39-40]. The Muslims discussed these seventy thousand and said: 'We think they are people who were born in Islam and never ceased working for it until they died upon it.' Word of their discussion reached the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), and he stated: 'It is not like that. Rather, they are those who do not seek ruqyah, do not cauterize themselves, do not believe in bad omens, and place their trust in their Lord.'"
الترجمة الأردية
حضرت عبداللہ بن مسعود رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت ہے: ایک رات ہم رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے پاس بیٹھے باتیں کرتے رہے اور بہت باتیں کیں۔ پھر ہم اپنے گھروں کو لوٹے۔ صبح ہوئی تو ہم نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے پاس آئے۔ آپ نے ارشاد فرمایا: «آج رات مجھے انبیاء اُن کے پیروکاروں سمیت دکھائے گئے۔ ایک نبی آتا تھا اُس کے ساتھ تین لوگ تھے، ایک نبی کے ساتھ ایک جماعت تھی، ایک نبی کے ساتھ چند لوگ تھے اور ایک نبی کے ساتھ اُس کی قوم سے کوئی نہ تھا۔ پھر میرے سامنے سے موسیٰ بن عمران بنی اسرائیل کی ایک بڑی جماعت کے ساتھ گزرے۔ جب میں نے اُنہیں دیکھا تو مجھے بہت خوشی ہوئی اور میں نے عرض کیا: اے رب! یہ کون ہیں؟ فرمایا: یہ تمہارے بھائی موسیٰ بن عمران ہیں اور بنی اسرائیل میں سے جنہوں نے اُن کی پیروی کی۔ میں نے عرض کیا: اے رب! میری امت کہاں ہے؟ فرمایا گیا: اپنی دائیں طرف دیکھو۔ دیکھا تو مکہ کی پہاڑیاں آدمیوں کے چہروں سے سیاہ ہو رہی تھیں۔ عرض کیا: اے رب! یہ کون ہیں؟ فرمایا: تمہاری امت ہے۔ فرمایا گیا: کیا تم راضی ہو؟ میں نے عرض کیا: اے رب! میں راضی ہوں۔ پھر فرمایا گیا: ان کے ساتھ ستّر ہزار ہیں جو بغیر حساب کے جنت میں داخل ہوں گے۔» عکاشہ بن محصن بنو اسد بن خزیمہ کے بھائی کھڑے ہوئے اور عرض کیا: یا نبی اللہ! اللہ سے دعا فرمائیں کہ مجھے اُن میں سے بنا دے۔ فرمایا: «اے اللہ! اسے اُن میں سے بنا دے۔» پھر ایک اور شخص کھڑا ہوا اور عرض کیا: یا نبی اللہ! اللہ سے دعا فرمائیں کہ مجھے اُن میں سے بنا دے۔ فرمایا: «عکاشہ تم سے سبقت لے گیا۔» پھر نبی اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے فرمایا: «میرے ماں باپ تم پر فدا ہوں! اگر تم ستّر ہزار میں سے ہو سکو تو ہو جاؤ۔ اگر نہ ہو سکو تو پہاڑیوں والوں میں سے ہو جاؤ۔ اگر نہ ہو سکو تو افق والوں میں سے ہو جاؤ کیونکہ میں نے وہاں بہت لوگ دیکھے جو آپس میں دھکم پیل کر رہے تھے۔» پھر فرمایا: «مجھے امید ہے کہ میری امت میں سے میری پیروی کرنے والے اہلِ جنت کا چوتھائی ہوں گے۔» ہم نے اللہ اکبر کہا۔ فرمایا: «مجھے امید ہے کہ تم تہائی ہو گے۔» ہم نے اللہ اکبر کہا۔ فرمایا: «مجھے امید ہے کہ تم آدھے ہو گے۔» ہم نے اللہ اکبر کہا۔ پھر نبی اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے تلاوت فرمائی: {اگلوں کی ایک جماعت اور پچھلوں کی ایک جماعت} [الواقعہ: 39-40]۔ مسلمانوں نے ان ستّر ہزار کے بارے میں بات کی اور کہا: ہمارا خیال ہے وہ ایسے لوگ ہیں جو اسلام میں پیدا ہوئے پھر برابر عمل کرتے رہے یہاں تک کہ اسلام پر مرے۔ یہ بات نبی صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم تک پہنچی تو فرمایا: «ایسا نہیں ہے بلکہ وہ وہ لوگ ہیں جو جھاڑ پھونک نہیں کراتے، داغ نہیں لگواتے، بدشگونی نہیں لیتے اور اپنے رب پر توکل کرتے ہیں۔»
