أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ أَنْبَأَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ ثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ نُمَيْرٍ ثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ «مَنْ عُرِضَ لَهُ قَضَاءٌ فَلْيَقْضِ بِمَا فِي كِتَابِ اللَّهِ فَإِنْ جَاءَهُ أَمْرٌ لَيْسَ فِي كِتَابِ اللَّهِ ﷻ فَلْيَقْضِ بِمَا قَضَى بِهِ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فَإِنْ جَاءَهُ أَمْرٌ لَيْسَ فِي كِتَابِ اللَّهِ ﷻ وَلَمْ يَقْضِ بِهِ نَبِيُّهُ ﷺ فَلْيَقْضِ بِمَا قَالَهُ الصَّالِحُونَ فَإِنْ جَاءَهُ أَمْرٌ لَيْسَ فِي كِتَابِ اللَّهِ وَلَمْ يَقْضِ بِهِ نَبِيُّهُ ﷺ وَلَمْ يَقْضِ بِهِ الصَّالِحُونَ فَلْيَجْتَهِدْ رَأْيَهُ فَإِنْ لَمْ يُحْسِنْ فَلْيُقِرَّ وَلَا يَسْتَحِي»
الترجمة الإنجليزية
Hadrat Abdullah ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be well pleased with him) said: 'Whoever is presented with a case for judgement, let him judge by what is in the Book of Allah. If there comes to him a matter that is not in the Book of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He), let him judge by what the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) judged. If there comes to him a matter that is not in the Book of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) and was not judged by the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), let him judge by what the righteous have said. If there comes to him a matter that is not in the Book of Allah, was not judged by the Prophet, and was not spoken of by the righteous, let him strive to form his own judgement.'
الترجمة الأردية
حضرت عبداللہ بن مسعود رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے فرمایا: 'جس کے سامنے کوئی فیصلہ پیش ہو تو وہ اللہ کی کتاب کے مطابق فیصلہ کرے۔ اگر کوئی ایسا معاملہ آئے جو اللہ عزوجل کی کتاب میں نہ ہو تو نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے فیصلے کے مطابق فیصلہ کرے۔ اگر کوئی ایسا معاملہ آئے جو اللہ عزوجل کی کتاب میں نہ ہو اور نبی صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے اس کا فیصلہ نہ فرمایا ہو تو صالحین کے اقوال کے مطابق فیصلہ کرے۔ اور اگر کوئی ایسا معاملہ آئے جو کتاب اللہ میں نہ ہو، نبی نے فیصلہ نہ فرمایا ہو اور صالحین نے اس کے بارے میں کچھ نہ فرمایا ہو تو خود اجتہاد کرے۔'
