Umm al-Mu'minin Hadrat Umm Salamah (may Allah be well pleased with her) narrated that the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated: "When a calamity befalls any of you, let him say: 'Indeed we belong to Allah and to Him we shall return. O Allah, with You I seek the reward for my calamity, so reward me for it.'" She said: "When I wanted to add 'and replace it with something better,' I would think: 'And who is better than Abu Salamah?' But I kept saying it. When my waiting period ended, Hadrat Abu Bakr (may Allah be well pleased with him) proposed to me but I declined. Then Hadrat Umar (may Allah be well pleased with him) proposed to me but I declined. Then the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) sent someone to propose to her. She said: 'Welcome to the Messenger of Allah and his envoy. Convey my greetings to the Messenger of Allah and inform him that I am a woman with young children, I am jealous by nature, and none of my guardians is present.' The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) sent word: 'As for your saying you have young children, Allah will suffice you regarding your children. As for your saying you are jealous, I shall pray to Allah to remove your jealousy. As for the guardians, none of them, whether present or absent, will be displeased with me.' She then said to her son: 'Stand, O Umar, and marry me to the Messenger of Allah.' So he married her to him. He stated to her: 'I shall not give you less than what I gave your co-wife — two grindstones, two water-jars, and a leather cushion stuffed with palm fiber.' The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) would visit her while she was nursing Zaynab. Whenever the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) came, she would take the child and place her in her lap to nurse her. The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), being modest and generous, would leave. Hadrat Ammar ibn Yasir (may Allah be well pleased with him), who was her foster-brother, noticed this. One day when the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) intended to visit her, Ammar came, entered upon her, took Zaynab from her lap, and said: 'Leave this wretched little one who has been troubling the Messenger of Allah!' When the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) entered, he looked around the house and asked: 'Where is Zunab? Why do I not see Zunab?' She said: 'Ammar came and took her.' So the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) consummated the marriage with his wife and stated: 'If you wish, I shall stay with you for seven nights, but then I must stay seven nights with the other wives as well.'"
الترجمة الأردية
اُمّ المؤمنین حضرت اُمّ سلمہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا سے روایت ہے کہ حضور نبی اکرم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: "جب تم میں سے کسی پر مصیبت آئے تو کہے: إِنَّا لِلَّهِ وَإِنَّا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ۔ اے اللہ! تیرے ہاں میں اپنی مصیبت کا ثواب چاہتی ہوں، پس مجھے اس کا اجر عطا فرما۔" انہوں نے فرمایا: جب میں یہ کہنا چاہتی کہ 'اور مجھے اس سے بہتر عطا فرما' تو سوچتی: ابوسلمہ سے بہتر کون ہے؟ لیکن آخرکار میں نے یہ دعا پڑھ ہی لی۔ جب میری عدت گزری تو حضرت ابوبکر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے مجھے پیغام دیا، میں نے انکار کیا۔ حضرت عمر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے پیغام دیا، میں نے انکار کیا۔ پھر حضور نبی اکرم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے خطبہ بھیجا۔ انہوں نے کہا: رسول اللہ اور ان کے قاصد کو خوش آمدید۔ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کو میرا سلام عرض کریں اور بتائیں کہ میں بچوں والی عورت ہوں، غیرت مند ہوں، اور میرے اولیاء میں سے کوئی حاضر نہیں۔ حضور نبی اکرم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے فرمایا: تمہارے بچوں کے بارے میں اللہ تمہیں کفایت فرمائے گا، غیرت کے بارے میں میں اللہ سے دعا کروں گا کہ وہ تمہاری غیرت دور کر دے، اور اولیاء میں سے کوئی حاضر ہو یا غائب، سب مجھ سے راضی ہوں گے۔ تو انہوں نے اپنے بیٹے سے کہا: عمر! اٹھو اور مجھے رسول اللہ سے نکاح کرا دو۔ تو انہوں نے نکاح کرا دیا۔ آپ نے فرمایا: میں تمہیں اس سے کم نہیں دوں گا جو تمہاری ہم مرتبہ کو دیا — دو مشکیزے، دو چکیاں اور چمڑے کا تکیہ جس میں کھجور کی چھال بھری ہوئی تھی۔ حضور نبی اکرم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم ان کے پاس تشریف لاتے اور وہ زینب کو دودھ پلا رہی ہوتیں۔ جب آپ تشریف لاتے تو وہ بچی کو اٹھا کر گود میں رکھ لیتیں۔ حضور نبی اکرم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم حیادار اور کریم تھے، واپس تشریف لے جاتے۔ حضرت عمار بن یاسر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ جو ان کے رضاعی بھائی تھے، نے یہ بات بھانپ لی۔ ایک دن حضور نبی اکرم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم تشریف لانے والے تھے تو عمار آئے، داخل ہوئے، زینب کو گود سے اٹھایا اور کہا: اس بدصورتی کو چھوڑو جس نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کو تکلیف دی۔ جب حضور نبی اکرم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم تشریف لائے تو گھر میں نظر دوڑائی اور ارشاد فرمایا: زُناب کہاں ہے؟ مجھے زُناب نظر کیوں نہیں آتی؟ انہوں نے عرض کیا: عمار آئے اور لے گئے۔ پھر حضور نبی اکرم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے رخصتی فرمائی اور ارشاد فرمایا: اگر تم چاہو تو میں سات راتیں تمہارے پاس ٹھہروں، لیکن پھر باقی بیویوں کے پاس بھی سات راتیں ٹھہروں گا۔
