Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) would not go out on the morning of Eid al-Fitr until he had eaten some dates — and in another narration — he would eat an odd number of dates.

سیدنا انس رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہرسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمعیدالفطر کے روز دن چڑھنے دیتے تھے یہاں تک کہ چند کھجوریں کھا لیتے (یعنی نمازعید سے پہلے)۔ ایک دوسری روایت میں ہے کہ آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمطاق کھجوریں کھاتے تھے۔[مختصر صحيح بخاري/حدیث: 528]
