Hadrat Abu Bakra (may Allah be well pleased with him) narrates that the Beloved Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated, 'Time has taken its original shape which it had when Allah created the Heavens and the Earth. The year is of twelve months, four of which are sacred, and out of these four, three are in succession, i.e. Dhul-Qa'da, Dhul-Hijja, and al-Muharram, and the fourth is Rajab which is named after the Mudar tribe, between the month of Jumada ath-Thaniya and Sha'ban.' Then the Beloved Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) inquired, 'Which is this month?' We submitted, 'Allah and His Messenger know better.' Upon that, the Beloved Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) kept quiet so long that we thought he might name it with another name. Then he stated, 'Is it not the month of Dhul-Hijja?' We submitted, 'Yes.' Then he stated, 'Which city is this?' We submitted, 'Allah and His Messenger know better.' He kept quiet so long that we thought he might name it with another name. Then he stated, 'Is it not the city of Mecca?' We submitted, 'Yes.' Then he stated, 'Which day is today?' We submitted, 'Allah and His Messenger know better.' He kept quiet so long that we thought he might name it with another name. Then he stated, 'Is it not the day of an-Nahr (i.e. sacrifice)?' We submitted, 'Yes.' He stated, 'So your blood, your properties (the sub-narrator Muhammad (upon him be mercy) said: I think the Beloved Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) also said: and your honor) are sacred to one another like the sanctity of this day of yours, in this city of yours, in this month of yours. And surely, you will meet your Lord, and He will ask you about your deeds. Beware! Do not become disbelievers after me, cutting the throats of one another. It is incumbent on those who are present to convey this message of mine to those who are absent. It may be that some of those to whom it will be conveyed will understand it better than those who have actually heard it.' (The sub-narrator Muhammad (upon him be mercy), on remembering that narration, used to say, 'Muhammad (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) spoke the truth!') He then added twice, 'Beware! Have I not conveyed Allah's Message to you?'

حضرت ابوبکرہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ حبیبِ کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: زمانہ اپنی اصل حالت پر گھوم آیا ہے جیسا کہ اس دن تھا جب اللہ تعالیٰ نے آسمانوں اور زمین کو پیدا فرمایا۔ سال بارہ مہینوں کا ہے جن میں سے چار حرمت والے ہیں، اور ان چاروں میں سے تین لگاتار ہیں یعنی ذوالقعدہ، ذوالحجہ اور محرم، اور چوتھا رجب المضر ہے جو جمادی الثانیہ اور شعبان کے درمیان ہے۔ پھر آپ نے ارشاد فرمایا: یہ کون سا مہینہ ہے؟ ہم نے عرض کیا: اللہ اور اس کے رسول بہتر جانتے ہیں۔ آپ اتنی دیر خاموش رہے کہ ہمیں گمان ہوا کہ شاید آپ اس کا کوئی اور نام رکھیں گے۔ پھر ارشاد فرمایا: کیا یہ ذوالحجہ نہیں ہے؟ ہم نے عرض کیا: جی ہاں۔ پھر ارشاد فرمایا: یہ کون سا شہر ہے؟ ہم نے عرض کیا: اللہ اور اس کے رسول بہتر جانتے ہیں۔ آپ اتنی دیر خاموش رہے کہ ہمیں گمان ہوا کہ شاید آپ اس کا کوئی اور نام رکھیں گے۔ پھر ارشاد فرمایا: کیا یہ مکہ مکرمہ نہیں ہے؟ ہم نے عرض کیا: جی ہاں۔ پھر ارشاد فرمایا: آج کون سا دن ہے؟ ہم نے عرض کیا: اللہ اور اس کے رسول بہتر جانتے ہیں۔ آپ اتنی دیر خاموش رہے کہ ہمیں گمان ہوا کہ شاید آپ اس کا کوئی اور نام رکھیں گے۔ پھر ارشاد فرمایا: کیا یہ یومِ نحر (قربانی کا دن) نہیں ہے؟ ہم نے عرض کیا: جی ہاں۔ ارشاد فرمایا: تو تمہارے خون، تمہارے اموال (راوی محمد رحمۃ اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ فرماتے ہیں: میرا خیال ہے کہ آپ نے یہ بھی فرمایا: اور تمہاری عزتیں) ایک دوسرے پر اسی طرح حرام ہیں جیسے اس دن کی حرمت ہے، اس شہر میں، اس مہینے میں۔ تم عنقریب اپنے رب سے ملو گے اور وہ تم سے تمہارے اعمال کے بارے میں سوال فرمائے گا۔ خبردار! میرے بعد کافر نہ ہو جانا کہ ایک دوسرے کی گردنیں مارنے لگو۔ حاضرین پر لازم ہے کہ یہ پیغام غائبین تک پہنچائیں۔ ہو سکتا ہے کہ جن تک یہ پیغام پہنچایا جائے وہ ان سے بہتر سمجھ لیں جنہوں نے براہِ راست سنا ہے۔ (راوی محمد رحمۃ اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ اس روایت کو یاد کرکے فرماتے تھے: محمد صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے سچ فرمایا!) پھر آپ نے دو بار ارشاد فرمایا: خبردار! کیا میں نے (اللہ کا پیغام) تمہیں پہنچا نہیں دیا؟
