It is narrated by Hadrat Ali (may Allah ennoble his countenance) who states: The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) sent me, (Hadrat) Hadrat al-Zubayr (may Allah be well pleased with him), and al-Miqdad bin al-Aswad (may Allah be well pleased with him), and declared: "Go until you reach the garden of Khakh, for there is a woman there with a letter; take it from her." We set out, our horses galloping, until we reached the garden. There was the woman. We said: Hand over the letter. She said: I have no letter. We said: Hand over the letter or the clothes will be removed. So she took it out from her braids. We brought it to the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him). It was from Hatib bin Abi Balta'a to some polytheists of Makkah, informing them of some affairs of the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him). The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated: "O Hatib! What is this?" He submitted: O Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him)! Do not be hasty with me. I was an ally among the Quraysh, not one of them. The Emigrants with you have relatives in Makkah who protect their families and wealth. Since I lack such lineage among them, I wished to secure a favour with them by which they would protect my relatives. I did not do this out of disbelief, apostasy, or satisfaction with disbelief after Islam. The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) declared: "He has spoken the truth to you." Hadrat Umar (may Allah be well pleased with him) submitted: O Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him)! Allow me to strike the neck of this hypocrite. He declared: "Indeed, he was present at Badr, and what do you know — perhaps Allah looked upon the people of Badr and said: Do as you wish, for I have forgiven you."
الترجمة الأردية
حضرت علی کرّم اللہ تعالیٰ وجہہ الکریم سے روایت ہے، فرماتے ہیں: رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے مجھے، (حضرت) زبیر (رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ) اور مقداد بن اسود (رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ) کو بھیجا اور ارشاد فرمایا: "جاؤ یہاں تک کہ روضۂ خاخ پہنچو، وہاں ایک عورت ہوگی جس کے پاس ایک خط ہے، وہ خط اس سے لے لو۔" ہم چلے، ہمارے گھوڑے دوڑتے ہوئے لے گئے یہاں تک کہ روضے تک پہنچے، وہاں وہ عورت مل گئی۔ ہم نے کہا: خط نکالو۔ اس نے کہا: میرے پاس کوئی خط نہیں۔ ہم نے کہا: خط نکالو ورنہ کپڑے اتار دیے جائیں گے۔ تو اس نے اپنی چوٹی سے نکال کر دیا۔ ہم اسے لے کر رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کی خدمت میں حاضر ہوئے۔ وہ حاطب بن ابوبلتعہ کی طرف سے مکہ کے بعض مشرکوں کو تھا، جس میں وہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے بعض معاملات کی خبر دے رہے تھے۔ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: "اے حاطب! یہ کیا ہے؟" عرض کیا: یا رسول اللہ! مجھ پر جلدی نہ فرمائیں۔ میں قریش میں حلیف تھا، ان میں سے نہ تھا، اور آپ کے ساتھ جو مہاجرین ہیں ان کی مکہ میں قرابتداریاں ہیں جن سے ان کے گھر والے اور مال محفوظ ہیں۔ میں نے چاہا کہ جب نسب کی بنیاد نہیں تو ان کے پاس ایک احسان رکھ دوں جس سے وہ میرے رشتہ داروں کی حفاظت کریں۔ میں نے یہ کفر، ارتداد اور اسلام کے بعد کفر سے رضامندی سے نہیں کیا۔ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: "انہوں نے تم سے سچ کہا ہے۔" حضرت عمر (رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ) نے عرض کیا: یا رسول اللہ! مجھے اجازت دیجیے کہ اس منافق کی گردن ماروں۔ آپ نے ارشاد فرمایا: "بے شک یہ بدر میں شریک ہوئے ہیں، اور تمہیں کیا خبر شاید اللہ نے اہلِ بدر کو دیکھ کر فرما دیا ہو: جو چاہو کرو، میں نے تمہیں بخش دیا۔"
