Umm al-Mu'minin Hadrat Aisha (may Allah be well pleased with her) narrates that the commencement of revelation to the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) began with righteous dreams in his sleep. Whatever dream he saw would manifest as clearly as the break of dawn. Then seclusion was made beloved to him, and he would retire to the Cave of Hira and devote himself to worship therein for many nights before returning to his family. He would take provisions for this purpose, then return to Hadrat Khadija (may Allah be well pleased with her) and take similar provisions again, until the Truth came to him while he was in the Cave of Hira. The angel came to him and said: Read! He (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated: I am not one who reads. He (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) related: The angel seized me and pressed me until it became unbearable, then released me and said: Read! I said: I am not one who reads. Then he seized me a second time and pressed me until it became unbearable, then released me and said: Read! I said: I am not one who reads. Then he seized me a third time and pressed me, then released me and said: 'Read in the name of your Lord who created, created man from a clot. Read, and your Lord is the Most Generous.' Then the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) returned with these verses, his blessed heart trembling. He came to Hadrat Khadija bint Khuwaylid (may Allah be well pleased with her) and said: Cover me! Cover me! So they covered him until his fear subsided. Then he informed Hadrat Khadija (may Allah be well pleased with her) of the entire account and said: I feared for myself. Hadrat Khadija (may Allah be well pleased with her) submitted: Never! By Allah, Allah the Exalted will never disgrace you. Indeed, you maintain ties of kinship, you bear the burdens of the helpless, you provide for the destitute, you honour your guests, and you assist in the hardships of truth. Then Hadrat Khadija (may Allah be well pleased with her) took him to Waraqa bin Nawfal bin Asad bin Abd al-Uzza, who was her paternal cousin. He had embraced Christianity during the Age of Ignorance, and used to write in Hebrew script, writing from the Gospel in Hebrew as much as Allah willed. He was an elderly man who had become blind. Hadrat Khadija (may Allah be well pleased with her) said: O cousin! Listen to what your nephew has to say. Waraqa said: O my nephew, what have you seen? The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) informed him of what he had witnessed. Waraqa said: This is the same Namus (the angel of secrets, Jibril) whom Allah the Exalted sent to Musa (upon him be peace). Would that I were young! Would that I were alive when your people shall drive you out! The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) asked: Will they drive me out? Waraqa replied: Yes, no man has ever come with what you have brought except that he was met with enmity. And if I live to see your day, I shall support you with all my might. But shortly thereafter Waraqa passed away, and the revelation paused for a time.
الترجمة الأردية
حضرت اُمّ المؤمنین عائشہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا فرماتی ہیں کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم پر وحی کی ابتداء سچے خوابوں سے ہوئی۔ آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم جو خواب بھی دیکھتے وہ صبح کی روشنی کی طرح ظاہر ہوتا۔ پھر آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کو خلوت پسند ہو گئی اور آپ غار حراء میں تشریف لے جاتے اور وہاں کئی کئی راتیں عبادت میں مشغول رہتے، اس سے پہلے کہ اپنے اہل خانہ کی طرف لوٹتے، اور اس کے لیے زادِ راہ لے جاتے۔ پھر حضرت اُمّ المؤمنین خدیجہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا کے پاس تشریف لاتے اور اسی قدر مزید توشہ لے جاتے، یہاں تک کہ آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم پر حق منکشف ہوا جب آپ غار حراء میں تھے۔ فرشتہ آیا اور کہا: اقرأ (پڑھیے)۔ آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: میں پڑھنے والا نہیں ہوں۔ آپ فرماتے ہیں: فرشتے نے مجھے پکڑ کر اتنا بھینچا کہ مجھ پر سختی ہوئی، پھر مجھے چھوڑ دیا اور کہا: پڑھیے۔ میں نے عرض کیا: میں پڑھنے والا نہیں ہوں۔ پھر اس نے دوسری بار مجھے پکڑ کر بھینچا یہاں تک کہ مجھ پر سختی ہوئی، پھر چھوڑ دیا اور کہا: پڑھیے۔ میں نے عرض کیا: میں پڑھنے والا نہیں ہوں۔ پھر تیسری بار مجھے پکڑ کر بھینچا، پھر چھوڑا اور کہا: اقْرَأْ بِاسْمِ رَبِّكَ الَّذِي خَلَقَ، خَلَقَ الإِنْسَانَ مِنْ عَلَقٍ، اقْرَأْ وَرَبُّكَ الأَكْرَمُ (پڑھیے اپنے ربّ کے نام سے جس نے پیدا کیا، انسان کو جمے ہوئے خون سے بنایا، پڑھیے اور آپ کا ربّ بڑا کریم ہے)۔ پھر رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم ان آیات کو لے کر لوٹے، آپ کا قلب مبارک کانپ رہا تھا۔ آپ حضرت اُمّ المؤمنین خدیجہ بنت خویلد رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا کے پاس تشریف لائے اور ارشاد فرمایا: مجھے کمبل اوڑھا دو، مجھے کمبل اوڑھا دو۔ لوگوں نے آپ کو کمبل اوڑھا دیا یہاں تک کہ آپ کا خوف جاتا رہا۔ پھر آپ نے حضرت اُمّ المؤمنین خدیجہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا کو سارا واقعہ سنایا اور ارشاد فرمایا: مجھے اپنی جان کا خوف ہوا۔ حضرت اُمّ المؤمنین خدیجہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا نے عرض کیا: ہرگز نہیں! اللہ کی قسم! اللہ تعالیٰ آپ کو کبھی رسوا نہیں کرے گا، بے شک آپ صلہ رحمی کرتے ہیں، بے کسوں کا بوجھ اٹھاتے ہیں، محتاجوں کے لیے کماتے ہیں، مہمان نوازی کرتے ہیں اور حق کی مصیبتوں میں مدد فرماتے ہیں۔ پھر حضرت اُمّ المؤمنین خدیجہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کو ورقہ بن نوفل بن اسد بن عبدالعزیٰ کے پاس لے گئیں جو حضرت اُمّ المؤمنین خدیجہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا کے چچا زاد بھائی تھے۔ وہ زمانہ جاہلیت میں نصرانی ہو گئے تھے اور عبرانی زبان میں لکھتے تھے اور انجیل کو عبرانی میں لکھا کرتے تھے جتنا اللہ تعالیٰ نے چاہا، اور وہ بہت بوڑھے ہو چکے تھے اور نابینا ہو گئے تھے۔ حضرت اُمّ المؤمنین خدیجہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا نے عرض کیا: اے چچا زاد! اپنے بھتیجے سے سنیے۔ ورقہ نے کہا: اے میرے بھتیجے! تم نے کیا دیکھا؟ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے جو دیکھا تھا اس کی خبر دی۔ ورقہ نے کہا: یہ وہی ناموس ہے جسے اللہ تعالیٰ نے حضرت موسیٰ علیہ السلام پر نازل فرمایا تھا۔ کاش میں اس وقت جوان ہوتا! کاش میں اس وقت زندہ ہوتا جب آپ کی قوم آپ کو نکال دے گی! رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: کیا وہ لوگ مجھے نکال دیں گے؟ ورقہ نے کہا: ہاں، کوئی شخص بھی ایسا نہیں آیا جو آپ جیسا (پیغام حق) لے کر آیا ہو مگر اس سے دشمنی کی گئی، اور اگر مجھے آپ کا وہ زمانہ مل گیا تو میں آپ کی بھرپور مدد کروں گا۔ پھر جلد ہی ورقہ کا انتقال ہو گیا اور وحی رک گئی۔
