Hadrat Abdullah bin Abi Qatadah narrates that his father (Hadrat Abu Qatadah, may Allah be well pleased with him) informed him that the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) set out intending to perform Hajj, and his Companions (may Allah be well pleased with them all) were with him. He (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) dispatched a group of Companions, including Hadrat Abu Qatadah (may Allah be well pleased with him), by another route, saying: 'Proceed along the seashore until we meet.' So they took the coastal route. When they turned back, they all assumed Ihram except Hadrat Abu Qatadah (may Allah be well pleased with him), who had not yet assumed Ihram. While traveling they saw wild donkeys. Hadrat Abu Qatadah (may Allah be well pleased with him) attacked them and hunted a she-donkey. They all stopped and ate of its meat, then wondered: 'Can we eat hunted meat while we are in Ihram?' So they carried the remaining meat. When they reached the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), they submitted: 'O Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him)! We were all in Ihram except Hadrat Abu Qatadah (may Allah be well pleased with him), who had not assumed Ihram. We saw wild donkeys and Hadrat Abu Qatadah attacked and hunted a she-donkey. We stopped and ate of its meat, then we thought: Can we eat hunted meat while in Ihram? So we brought the remaining meat.' He (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) asked: 'Did any of you order him to attack or gesture toward it?' They submitted: 'No.' He (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated: 'Then eat the remaining meat.'
الترجمة الأردية
حضرت عبداللہ بن ابی قتادہ سے روایت ہے کہ ان کے والد (حضرت ابوقتادہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ) نے خبر دی کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم حج کا ارادہ فرما کر نکلے۔ صحابہ رضوان اللہ تعالیٰ علیہم اجمعین بھی آپ کے ساتھ تھے۔ آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے صحابہ کی ایک جماعت کو، جن میں حضرت ابوقتادہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ بھی تھے، ہدایت فرما کر ایک دوسرے راستے سے بھیجا اور ارشاد فرمایا: تم لوگ سمندر کے کنارے کنارے چلو یہاں تک کہ ہم ملیں۔ چنانچہ وہ ساحل کے ساتھ چلے۔ جب واپسی ہوئی تو سب نے احرام باندھ لیا سوائے حضرت ابوقتادہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ کے، انہوں نے ابھی احرام نہیں باندھا تھا۔ چلتے چلتے انہوں نے جنگلی گدھے دیکھے۔ حضرت ابوقتادہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے ان پر حملہ کیا اور ایک مادہ کا شکار کیا۔ سب نے ایک جگہ اتر کر اس کا گوشت کھایا اور ساتھ ہی خیال آیا: ہم محرم ہونے کے باوجود شکار کا گوشت کھا رہے ہیں؟ چنانچہ جو گوشت بچا وہ ساتھ لائے۔ جب رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کی خدمت میں پہنچے تو عرض کی: یا رسول اللہ! ہم سب تو محرم تھے لیکن حضرت ابوقتادہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے احرام نہیں باندھا تھا۔ ہم نے جنگلی گدھے دیکھے، حضرت ابوقتادہ نے حملہ کر کے ایک مادہ کا شکار کیا۔ ہم نے اتر کر اس کا گوشت کھایا، پھر خیال آیا: ہم محرم ہو کر شکار کا گوشت کھا رہے ہیں؟ اس لیے جو گوشت بچا وہ لے آئے ہیں۔ آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے پوچھا: کیا تم میں سے کسی نے انہیں حملہ کرنے کا حکم دیا تھا یا اشارہ کیا تھا؟ سب نے عرض کی: نہیں۔ آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: پھر بچا ہوا گوشت بھی کھا لو۔
