حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ، عَنْ أَبِي الضُّحَى، عَنْ مَسْرُوقٍ، قَالَ كُنَّا عِنْدَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ فَقَالَ إِنَّ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم لَمَّا رَأَى مِنَ النَّاسِ إِدْبَارًا قَالَ " اللَّهُمَّ سَبْعٌ كَسَبْعِ يُوسُفَ ". فَأَخَذَتْهُمْ سَنَةٌ حَصَّتْ كُلَّ شَىْءٍ حَتَّى أَكَلُوا الْجُلُودَ وَالْمَيْتَةَ وَالْجِيَفَ، وَيَنْظُرَ أَحَدُهُمْ إِلَى السَّمَاءِ فَيَرَى الدُّخَانَ مِنَ الْجُوعِ، فَأَتَاهُ أَبُو سُفْيَانَ فَقَالَ يَا مُحَمَّدُ إِنَّكَ تَأْمُرُ بِطَاعَةِ اللَّهِ وَبِصِلَةِ الرَّحِمِ وَإِنَّ قَوْمَكَ قَدْ هَلَكُوا، فَادْعُ اللَّهَ لَهُمْ قَالَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى {فَارْتَقِبْ يَوْمَ تَأْتِي السَّمَاءُ بِدُخَانٍ مُبِينٍ} إِلَى قَوْلِهِ {عَائِدُونَ * يَوْمَ نَبْطِشُ الْبَطْشَةَ الْكُبْرَى} فَالْبَطْشَةُ يَوْمَ بَدْرٍ، وَقَدْ مَضَتِ الدُّخَانُ وَالْبَطْشَةُ وَاللِّزَامُ وَآيَةُ الرُّومِ.
الترجمة الإنجليزية
It is narrated from Hadrat Masruq (upon him be mercy) who said: We were in the blessed company of Hadrat Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be well pleased with him). He stated: When the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) saw the people turning away from Islam, he declared: 'O Allah! Send upon them seven years of famine like the seven years of Yusuf (upon him be peace).' So a severe famine struck them that destroyed everything, until they began eating hides, carrion and decomposed carcasses. Whenever one of them would look towards the sky, he would see what appeared like smoke due to extreme hunger. Finally Abu Sufyan came to the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) and said: 'O Muhammad! You command obedience to Allah and maintaining ties of kinship, yet your people are perishing, so pray to Allah for them.' Allah the Exalted revealed: 'Then watch for the day when the sky will bring forth a visible smoke' until 'you will return' and 'On the day when We shall seize with a mighty grasp.' The mighty grasp was on the day of Badr. The smoke, the grasp, the binding, and the verse of Surah Ar-Rum have all come to pass.
الترجمة الأردية
حضرت مسروق رحمۃ اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ فرماتے ہیں کہ ہم حضرت عبداللہ بن مسعود رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ کی خدمت میں حاضر تھے۔ آپ نے فرمایا کہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے جب کفار قریش کی سرکشی اور اسلام سے انکار دیکھا تو ارشاد فرمایا: اے اللہ! حضرت یوسف علیہ السلام کے سات سالوں جیسے سات سال ان پر بھیج۔ چنانچہ ایسا قحط پڑا کہ ہر چیز تباہ ہو گئی۔ یہاں تک کہ لوگ کھالیں، مردار اور سڑے ہوئے جانور کھانے لگے۔ بھوک کی شدت سے جب کوئی آسمان کی طرف نظر اٹھاتا تو اسے دھویں سا نظر آتا۔ آخرکار حضرت ابوسفیان حاضر خدمت ہوا اور عرض کیا: اے محمد (صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم)! آپ تو اللہ کی اطاعت اور صلہ رحمی کا حکم فرماتے ہیں، آپ کی قوم ہلاک ہو رہی ہے، اللہ سے ان کے حق میں دعا فرمائیں۔ اللہ تعالیٰ نے ارشاد فرمایا: اس دن کا انتظار کر جب آسمان صاف دھواں لائے گا، آیت «عائدون» تک۔ نیز «جس دن ہم سختی سے گرفت کریں گے» یہ بدر کی لڑائی کے دن ہوئی اور دھواں، سخت گرفت، قید اور سورۃ الروم کی پیش گوئی سب پوری ہو چکیں۔
