Sharik ibn Shihab narrated: I used to wish that I would meet a man from among the Companions of the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) to ask him about the Khawarij. I met Abu Barzah on a day of Eid among a group of his companions. I said to him: 'Did you hear the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) mention the Khawarij?' He said: 'I heard the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) with my ears and saw him with my eyes. The Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) was brought wealth, and he gave to those on his right and those on his left, but did not give anything to those behind him. A man stood up from behind him and said: O Muhammad, by Allah you have not been just with me today!' He was a black man with closely cropped hair, wearing two white garments. The Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) became extremely angry and said: 'By Allah, you will not find after me a man who is more just to you than me!' Then he said: 'There will emerge at the end of time a people like this one among them, who will recite the Quran but it will not pass beyond their throats. They will pass through Islam just as an arrow passes through prey. Their distinguishing mark is shaving. They will continue to emerge until the last of them emerges with the Dajjal. When you meet them, fight them — they are the worst of creation.' This hadith has been narrated with similar wording from the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) through other routes, and we have mentioned each hadith with its wording in its place. We do not know it narrated from Sharik ibn Shihab except by al-Azraq ibn Qays, and we do not know he narrated other than this hadith.
