أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو طَاهِرٍ الْفَقِيهُ ثنا أَبُو بَكْرٍ الْقَطَّانُ ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي بُكَيْرٍ ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ حَدَّثَنِي الْأَحْوَصُ بْنُ حَكِيمٍ وَأَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ عَنْ حَكِيمِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ قَالَ كَتَبَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ ؓ إِلَى أُمَرَاءِ الْأَجْنَادِ فَذَكَرَهُ قَالَ وَأَيُّمَا رُفْقَةٍ مِنَ الْمُهَاجِرِينَ آوَاهُمُ اللَّيْلُ إِلَى قَرْيَةٍ مِنْ قُرَى الْمُعَاهَدِينَ مِنْ مُسَافِرِينَ فَلَمْ يَأْتُوهُمْ بِالْقِرَى فَقَدْ بَرِئَتْ مِنْهُمُ الذِّمَّةُ

Abu Tahir al-Faqih informed us, Abu Bakr al-Qattan narrated to us, Ibrahim ibn al-Harith narrated to us, Yahya ibn Abi Bukayr narrated to us, Isma'il ibn 'Ayyash narrated to us, al-Ahwas ibn Hakim and Abu Bakr ibn 'Abdullah ibn Abi Maryam narrated to me from Hakim ibn 'Umayr, who said: 'Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) wrote to the commanders of the armies, and he mentioned: "Any group of emigrants whom the night brings to a village of the covenant people while traveling, if they do not provide them hospitality, then the covenant is void for them."
